My Story
Sheila Herrera
Once Upon a time …
in a north Texas town, a Mexican-American girl was born. As she grew, the young doncella (maiden) was known far and wide for her adventurous spirit and imagination. Although her papá and mamá wanted to keep her safe within the walls of their casa, the doncella ventured into the world on a quest to make a difference.
She became a maestra, a special education teacher. Although the doncella loved helping children learn, she longed for new adventures and did many things — a trainer of teachers, an editor, a vice president, a project manager, and even a mayor. Although she enjoyed each adventure and learned many new things, the doncella always felt that something was missing.
Although she was no longer a child, she loved to tell stories and read children’s books. One day, the not-so-young doncella realized her true calling – creating adventures for children. Writing picture books where children would see themselves in her stories. The doncella is also committed to helping other maidens (and knights) to do the same.
Her tale is far from over. She hopes you will join her on her journey and invite her to be a part of yours!
